Classroom Management Strategies and other Teacher Worthy Ideas
I can’t tell you how pleased I am with this ruling by our Supreme Court. According to Politico, “The Supreme Court today ruled Wednesday that school districts must go the extra mile to accommodate students with disabilities under federal special education law in a unanimous decision that could dramatically expand the rights of special education students.”
I can only say this should have been done long ago. My experience and impression is that public school Special Education funds are so restricted that they just can’t provide all the help that these wonderful children need. Therefore, parents are forced to move their children to specialized private schools at a major cost to these families. Hence, the demand for Voucher Programs to be made into a national law.
“The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act requires public schools to provide students with disabilities a “free appropriate public education” — commonly called the FAPE requirement. But lower courts have split on what that means.”
