We Were Meant to be Teachers!

Classroom Management Strategies and other Teacher Worthy Ideas

Using Story Maps at the Library?

How many of you take your students to your school’s Library/Media Center and have them look over books and complete a #Story Map while there?  Better yet, why not have an activity that they can do with the books in your own classroom library and use as a Center activity?

I’m still in wonder why students can’t figure out the Main Idea of a fictional book.  They simply don’t read the cover of the book.  It’s all there!  Or they don’t even reading the title!  Do I hear an Amen?

I just saw this post from classclassyesyes.com and thought it just might be a fun activity for younger elementary children or even children who struggle with identifying main characters.  It does use structure and also suggests using art to reinforce Main Idea.

Story Maps can be boring and exhausting for some students.  Here are some ideas that won’t be.
