Classroom Management Strategies and other Teacher Worthy Ideas

19 Reading Response Questions to Answer

Enough with the Reading strategies being tested like Compare/Contrast, Main Idea/Detail, etc. etc. etc.!  Why not just ask questions for understanding like:

Who did the author write this story for?

Which character did you absolutely NOT like and why?

How would you change the ending?

How is the book arranged?

What else would you change and why?

Here’s another post from teachthought.com that provides over a dozen  thought provoking and yet comprehension questions that are “out of the box” and yet provide opportunity for response questionnaires.  It might be a good idea to make this type of printout activity common and expected by the students.
