Classroom Management Strategies and other Teacher Worthy Ideas
The art of parenting is collapsing? We hurt our kids when we treat them like grownups? Are many kids emotionally overpowering their parents? Parents in North America are more likely to ask their child what they want to do rather than tell them what they are to do. I’ve seen that in restaurants, too.
All of these are true and are thoroughly discussed by someone who should know…Dr. Leonard Sax, a family physician and psychologist who is famous for writing #child development articles. In this article by Cathi Gulli, in “Macleans” online magazine, it is mentioned that children are not born knowing right from wrong.
I know that children are instinctively selfish and destructive. If we as parents don’t teach discipline, we end up with a generation of “me.” Even just this year, I’ve had the experience of working with a child who just “needs structure” and hugs. It doesn’t seem like this student gets any of this at home.
Here’s the article. Please let me know what you think. If you’re a teacher or a parent, I know you’ll find a lot to think about in this article.
